Etowah Eagles Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 9-1 loss to Walnut Grove on Saturday. Walnut Grove scored on a double by Lindsey Patton and a home run by Grayson Perry in the first inning.

The Etowah Eagles Varsity struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Walnut Grove, giving up nine runs.

In the first inning, Walnut Grove got their offense started. Patton doubled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.

Emily Byers was on the rubber for Walnut Grove. She surrendered one run on six hits over six innings, striking out one and walking one.

Natalie Harper toed the rubber for Etowah Eagles Varsity. She lasted five innings, allowing seven hits and seven runs while striking out five. Sydney Baker threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Etowah Eagles Varsity scattered six hits in the game. Alaina Smith and Abby Billings all collected multiple hits for Etowah Eagles Varsity. Billings and Smith each collected two hits to lead Etowah Eagles Varsity.

Kaitlyn Johnson led Walnut Grove with two hits in four at bats.
