Etowah Eagles Varsity stayed in it until the end, but Lassiter pulled away late in a 2-1 victory on Thursday. The game was tied at one with Lassiter batting in the top of the fifth when Paige Bennett singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Lassiter pitchers struck out six, while Etowah Eagles Varsity sat down six.

Etowah Eagles Varsity got things started in the first inning when Bri Condon doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.

Lassiter evened things up at one in the top of the second inning when Gracyn Tucker hit a solo homer.

Lisa Heller led things off in the pitcher’s circle for Lassiter. She allowed six hits and one run over seven innings, striking out six.

Kinsey Norton started the game for Etowah Eagles Varsity. She lasted seven innings, allowing seven hits and two runs while striking out six and walking one.

Paige Patterson led Etowah Eagles Varsity with two hits in four at bats.

Brooke Sims went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Lassiter in hits.
