Etowah Eagles got out to a four-run lead in the third inning and held on for a 6-5 victory over Sequoyah on Wednesday. Sequoyah scored three runs in the failed comeback on a stolen base by Katie Vansword in the fifth and a single by Sarah Squillace in the sixth.
Etowah Eagles got on the board in the first inning. Bri Condon drove in two when she singled.
Kinsey Norton toed the rubber for Etowah Eagles. She went four innings, allowing two runs on four hits, striking out three and walking one.
Nora Greene was in the pitcher’s circle for Sequoyah. She surrendered six runs on six hits over two and a third innings, striking out two. Kayla Scheiwe threw four and two-thirds innings in relief.
Etowah Eagles totaled ten hits in the game. Condon, Emma Yanes, and Hailey Schultz all managed multiple hits for Etowah Eagles. Schultz, Yanes, and Condon each managed two hits to lead Etowah Eagles.
Sequoyah totaled nine hits. Abby Schreiner, Vansword, and Lauren Anderson each had multiple hits for Sequoyah. Sequoyah was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Squillace made the most plays with seven.
